Desert Mirage football captain Omar Martinez wanted to start his senior season off with a bang, but it turned out to be more like a sonic boom.

Martinez tied a school record with a whopping eight touchdown runs in the Rams' 70-38 win over visiting Desert Chapel on Friday night in the season opener for both teams.

Martinez was running behind a big offensive line, and the Eagles just couldn't figure out a way to slow him down or the Rams' offense. The 70 points is believed to be a Desert Mirage record for a single game.

Desert Mirage fans can probably guess that it was all-time great Manny Ridge, who also had eight TDs in a game.
