BRENHAM, Texas — Blue Bell Creameries is recalling a limited batch of ice cream after a packaging error that could pose serious health risks to people with nut allergies.

The company said Friday it is pulling a small quantity of half-gallon cartons produced at its Brenham, Texas plant after they were mislabeled. The affected product contains Moo-llennium Crunch Ice Cream but was sold in Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough cartons topped with a Moo-llennium Crunch lid.

The mix-up means almonds, walnuts and pecans, not declared on the label, could trigger potentially life-threatening reactions for consumers with nut allergies, according to Blue Bell.

The issue was discovered by a Blue Bell employee restocking a retailer, the company said. No illnesses or adverse reactions have been reported.
