PILOT MOUNTAIN—Statesville opened the season with a 48-20 road victory over East Surry on Friday night.

Jaikoda Harrington’s 70-yard pass to Nalej Stackhouse moved the ball to the East Surry 2-yard line, and Tyreek Carter punched it into the end zone to make it 14-0 in the second quarter.

The Greyhounds led 21-6 at halftime.

Isaiah Crosland’s 28-yard touchdown run lifted Statesville to a 35-6 advantage in the third quarter. Santario White’s 51-yard TD run made it 42-14 in the fourth quarter.

Harrington completed 9 of 17 passes for 199 yards. He passed for a touchdown and rushed for a pair of scores.

White rushed for 113 yards on seven carries. Stackhouse finished with 99 yards on four receptions.
