ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Residents are celebrating the history and impact of Clarissa Street in Rochester with another year of community-oriented fun on Saturday.
27 years following the first Clarissa Street Reunion in 1996, organizers continue to honor the "enduring spirit", music, and history of the area through live music, local vendors, food, and activities for all ages. Featuring jazz, blues, and R&B stages, the sounds of performers filled the streets to remember the neighborhood's history as a space for musicians and the African American community in the 1950s and 1960s.
The Reunion is hosted by the Clarissa Street Legacy organization, which operates year-round to preserve and educate the Greater Rochester community on the story of Clarissa Street and Rochester's Third Ward.
