When a man was found dead Thursday from a suspected gunshot wound in a public washroom at the Scarborough Town Centre, cops could not immediately say if he had been murdered.

The victim appeared to have been killed by “potentially a single shot” shortly before 2 p.m. and a firearm was located in the restroom, but nobody in the busy mall near McCowan Rd. and Hwy. 401 had heard a gun go off.

So Toronto Police were only able to say the death was “suspicious.”

But two days later, investigators have now confirmed the 19-year-old was murdered.

The victim has been identified as Daniel Amalathas.

But still no further details have been released about the Toronto man’s death.

This is the city’s 27th murder so far this year – and 15 of those victims were killed by gunfire.
