CAMPTON, Ken. (KSNW) -- A relaxing dip in a hot tub at a remote Kentucky cabin for a group of elderly women turned tragic, requiring an emergency rescue response.

It happened on Wednesday night near Campton, a small community located in the Appalachian Plateau of eastern Kentucky, approximately 60 miles east-southeast of Lexington. The Wolfe County Search & Rescue Team says a group of women in their 80s was staying at a remote cabin when they decided to relax in a hot tub.

The rescue team says the trouble began when they attempted to exit the tub. Two of the women were unable to get themselves out due to preexisting conditions.

They overheated and became unresponsive. One of the group got back into the hot tub to hold their heads above water while another called 911.
