JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. ( KKTV /Gray News) - A Colorado Parks and Wildlife ranger is facing felony charges after law enforcement says a stabbing investigation that prompted a multi-agency manhunt was found to be “an elaborate hoax.”
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, 26-year-old Callum Heskett, a seasonal ranger at Staunton State Park, radioed for help at around 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday claiming he’d been attacked and stabbed.
Heskett told officials his alleged attacker fled on foot and gave first responders a suspect description.
Emergency responders airlifted Heskett to the hospital while the search for the suspect he described continued for several hours.
