ROCKLAND, Maine — A court hearing was held Friday for the teenager charged with murder in the death of Sunny "Sunshine" Stewart.

Stewart's body was found on July 3 on the shore of 100 Acre Island hours after she went paddleboarding on Crawford Pond alone on July 2.

In the days after the 17-year-old's arrest, Knox County Court released a document with his name on it and other details about the case. NEWS CENTER Maine is choosing not to share the boy's name because he is still being tried as a juvenile at this time.

The judge handling the case sealed all court documents earlier this week, so it the purpose of the hearing on Friday is unclear.

State prosecutors have the option to petition for the teen to be tried as an adult, which is what many expected would happen at Friday's hearing.
