NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (WLNE) — A water search was suspended at Scarborough State Beach Saturday because officials were unable to confirm anyone was actually missing, officials said.

The search was suspended around 8 p.m.

A spokesperson for the Department of Environmental Management told ABC6 DEM received a report from a beachgoer that “lost sight of two swimmers” at the beach.

The Narragansett Bay Marine Task Force was activated, the spokesperson said, and DEM Environmental Police responded, but the search was suspended because “responders were unable to confirm that anyone was missing.”
