Black cab rapist John Worboys faces a fresh investigation over an alleged sex attack in Blackpool dating back more than 25 years, it has emerged.

It was allegedly committed while Worboys was working as a stripper in the seaside resort in the 1990s. Specialist detectives have interviewed his former colleague and ex-stripper Dave Hanson to gather crucial information about Worboys' whereabouts during that period.

Worboys is currently serving two life sentences after being convicted in 2009 for attacks on 12 women in London. Lancashire Police is examining the fresh allegation - sparking fears his offending was far wider geographically than first feared.
