Police investigating the bizarre theft of post boxes in rural Cheshire have launched a public appeal for information.

Two letterboxes were taken from country lanes near the village of Malpas in south west Cheshire some time last weekend. Police say the theft has had a big impact on the community as people now have to travel to post letters.

It's thought the crime maybe linked to a similar theft in the Oswestry area of Shropshire on the same weekend. The Cheshire post boxes were stolen some time between 2pm on Saturday, August 16 and 12pm on Monday, August 18 from the B5060 Cuddington and Well Meadow and the road between No Man's Heath and Malpas.

Police have appealed for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
