Baldwin County Fire Department Deputy Fire Chief Bradley Towe confirms that one person and a dog were killed in a plane crash around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday evening.

Towe and EMA Director Wayne Johnson said the crash happened on Georgia State Route 212 near the 900 block of Nelson Road. Towe says the twin-engine Cessna 310 went down in a wooded area.

Towe said the pilot was the only person on board and died in the crash. He says a power line was knocked down but has since been repaired, and all roads in the area remain open.

The cause of the crash has not yet been determined. Towe says the FAA and NTSB are sending investigators to the scene on Sunday and will take over the investigation.
