Democratic governor Michelle Lujan Grisham stressed Saturday she would oppose using National Guard troops to carry out immigration enforcement within New Mexico, as Fox News reports federal officials are weighing a plan to call up forces from numerous states to assist Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Fox News obtained documents and spoke to Pentagon sources who said up to 1,700 guardsmen from 19 states are set to be mobilized in the coming weeks “to assist the Department of Homeland Security with President Donald Trump’s nationwide crackdown on illegal immigration and crime,” the story published late Friday says.
