A fresh Marton Fucsovics proved to be a weapon on Saturday in the championship match of the 14th Winston-Salem Open.

The 29-year-old from Hungary defeated the tournament’s ‘Ironman,’ Botic van de Zandschulp, 6-3, 7-6 (3) at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex in front of a near capacity of around 3,500.

For van de Zandschulp, he had to play a resumption of one match, then had to win a semifinal before getting to the championship match. Fucsovics, meanwhile, had a free pass to the championship match after Sebastian Korda withdrew without giving a reason to tournament officials.
