CHARLOTTE — While he couldn't predict the future, Grimsley coach Darryl Brown was more than happy with the present in the Keep Pounding High School Classic.
Faizon Brandon, the nation's No. 1 college recruit who's heading to Tennessee, scored a touchdown on fourth down in overtime, and the Grimsley defense made a clutch play to preserve the 28-27 victory over West Charlotte in the season-opening Keep Pounding High School Classic at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.
"I know we have a tough, hard-nosed football team,” Brown said. “I don’t know what it says about the rest of the year, but what it does say is that our guys won’t quit.
