HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Pavement collapsed in a residential neighborhood causing a deep hole in a road, according to Houston Public Works. The department said it was caused by an underground infrastructure issue.
HPW said the water leak and pavement collapse were reported to them this morning through 311, and that Houston Water crews were on scene.
The hole looked to be more than 5 feet deep and about 10 feet wide when an ABC13 crew arrived. At one point, the hole was completely filled with water. It is located at Sylvan Road in the Idylwood neighborhood. People in the area said two cars fell into the hole at different times.
ABC13 spoke with a man who said he was a driver of one of the cars. He described how he was scared when he fell in and the water went inside his car. Video from
