PITTSBURGH -- Jared Triolo homered and tripled Saturday for a season-high seven bases, as the Pirates defeated the Rockies for the second straight game, winning 5-1 .
Triolo has hit better since being recalled from the Minors on Aug. 1, slashing .303/.395/.430 over 20 games through Saturday. That slugging number got a boost when he launched a two-run homer off of Kyle Freeland in the third inning, and he scored another in the fifth when Bryan Reynolds doubled him home after a triple.
Triolo finished 2-for-4 at the plate and saved a run in the second when he knocked down Kyle Karros' ground ball, holding him to an infield single with Brenton Doyle on second.
