Two young girls and a woman were left critically injured after a fiery crash on Chicago's West Side early Saturday morning.

Just before 4 a.m., the 25-year-old driver of a Nissan SUV veered off the street on the 900 block of North Central Avenue and struck a tree with two young girls in the car, police said.

The driver and a 2-year-old girl and a 4-year-old girl were all taken to a local hospital, where they were initially listed in critical condition, authorities said.

The crash occurred in Chicago's Austin neighborhood.

Police said the Major Accidents Investigation Unit is looking into the crash.
