DENVER (KDVR) — A Weld County resident who helped Animal Control Officers find and capture a loose emu speaks about the experience and meeting the bird's owner.

On Friday, the Weld County Sheriff's Office asked the public if anyone had possibly lost their emu, as officers believed it "may be someone's pet."

The sheriff's office said that its officers received a report of a possible loose emu in the Camfield area and that a county resident agreed to assist.

FOX31 had the opportunity to interview the resident, Brian Bunn, who lives nearby to where the emu was last spotted.

"I didn't know anybody out there had emus to be honest," said Bunn.

Bunn said that he spotted the emu outside his Camfield property, where he and an officer captured the emu and brought it safely into a trailer.
