Jordan Sewell’s late winner helped Cloquet-Esko-Carlton win its boys soccer home opener 1-0 over Columbia Heights on Saturday, Aug. 23 at Members Cooperative Credit Union Stadium in Cloquet.

CEC was close to completing two games without a goal as the teams remained deadlocked until the 74th minute, where Sewell scored from Michael Ruhnke’s assist.

Logan Baker made 10 saves for the Lumberjacks (1-1).

The Hawks held a halftime lead against the Red Knights but let it slip through their fingers in the second half for a loss on Saturday at Corey Veech Field at Centricity Stadium.

Goals 12 minutes apart from Quinn Raukar made it 2-1 Hawks at the break, but Sebastian Meduri had a goal and assist in the second half as Benilde jumped out in front.
