CROMWELL — Two passengers in a side-by-side all-terrain vehicle are dead after their vehicle was found overturned in water on Saturday evening, Aug. 23.

According to a news release from the Carlton County Sheriff's Office, 9-1-1 received a call just before 9:20 p.m. on Saturday reporting an ATV crash on the Ditch Bank Forest Road northeast of Cromwell. The caller reported that two people were dead.

Upon responding to the scene, authorities determined that a 48-year-old Cloquet woman and a 59-year-old man identified as being from out of state were the victims of the crash. According to the release, both victims were traveling in a side-by-side ATV and became separated from the group with which they were riding.
