Second-time was a charm for Shannon Stewart.
The 60-year old clinical social worker is Penticton’s newest city councillor after winning a byelection, Saturday.
Stewart received 963 preliminary votes finishing ahead of runner-up Juliana Buitenhuis who had 707. Wayne Llewellyn was third with 335 votes.
She replaces Helena Konanz who was elected member of Parliament earlier this year.
Stewart previously ran for council in the 2022 general election finishing 11th of 17 candidates and collecting 2,734 votes.
