ROSELAND, La. —

The fire at the site of a Roseland explosion is now 90 percent contained as state police say crews will continue their work through Sunday.

The massive explosion forced dozens of residents in Roseland to evacuate their homes. Many of them are staying here at a nearby hotel, anxiously waiting to return home.

"I got to the neighbors and started telling them we've got to go, let's evacuate, get out of here,” said Darcy Garrett.

Garrett, a longtime Roseland resident, described the moments he was asked to leave his home after a mandatory evacuation order. Advertisement

"The mayor came around and told everybody, we've got to evacuate because there is going to be smoke and oil coming in our area,” Garrett said.
