An Alabama sheriff's office is mourning the loss of one of its former leaders.
Early Saturday, the Winston County Sheriff's Office announced the death of former sheriff Tommy Moore, who passed late this week.

In a statement , the current sheriff of Winston County, Caleb Snoddy, paid tribute to Moore, saying, "Sheriff Tommy Moore was more than a mentor. He was a true friend of mine, and perhaps the most humble man I have ever known."
The Alabama Sheriff's Association also remembered the former sheriff, who left the position in 2020, saying, "He was a good man and a leader ... pray for his family and friends in the coming days."
Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
