LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
Hundreds of people gathered Saturday at Jefferson Square Park to rally against anticipated cuts to Medicare and Medicaid following the July Fourth signing of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. Some provisions of the law took effect immediately, while others will phase in over the coming years.
“We’re very aware of what’s happening as a result of the [‘Beautiful Bill’] and its effect on people who are fighting for the less fortunate. We’re OK, but we’re worried about people who need Medicaid,” said Pat Hartlege, a Medicaid supporter.
Among those speaking were former Louisville Mayor Harvey Sloane and U.S. Rep. Morgan McGarvey, who urged community solidarity.
