The National Weather Service released a rip current statement at 2:01 a.m. on Sunday in effect until 8 p.m. for Brooklyn and Queens as well as Suffolk and Nassau counties.
The weather service states, "If you enter the surf zone, always have a flotation device with you and swim near a lifeguard.
