EAST LANSING — As many lessons as Aidan Chiles absorbed during his first year as a starting quarterback, he learned perhaps the most valuable one moments after his first season with Michigan State football came to an end.

Having suffered another blowout loss inside a half-empty Spartan Stadium on a frigid late-November night that kept the Spartans out of a bowl game, Chiles took a more serious demeanor that has followed him throughout the offseason.
