Due to heavy rain today from a coastal low moving up the East Coast, the National Weather Service has issued two separate Flood Watches that remain in effect for the coastal counties. The first one continues until 2 PM for Carteret, Coastal Onslow, Craven, and Pamlico counties. The second Flood Watch remains in effect for both inland Dare and Hyde Counties until 5 PM. Areas could see anywhere from 1-2″, with a few isolated 3″.

Showers will pass by the area throughout the day and continue this afternoon. Coastal areas and east of both Highway 264 and 64 will have the best chance of the heaviest rain. Watch for any heavy rain that could result in isolated flash flooding. As we head into the evening and overnight hours, rain will start to ease up, and we will become partly cloudy into Monday
