Who and where: Lisa Langlois (left) from St. Louis (Creve Coeur) and her daughter, Sarah Ashkar, now living in New York City, standing on the Pont Neuf, or “New Bridge” in Paris. The bridge is the oldest surviving bridge over the Seine, completed in 1607.

The trip: They spent two weeks in Europe last September.

Travel tip: “After our feet grew tired of walking all over this beautiful city, we rented bikes to cover more ground, which was especially fun since the Summer Olympics infrastructure was still in place, so there was less traffic to navigate on the mostly well marked bike lanes. Nevertheless, biking through Paris is not unlike share cycling through Manhattan. You need to be vigilant and respectful of the obstacle course of pedestrians, tourists, traffic and street signage.”
