Northern Arizona University President José Luis Cruz Rivera spoke during a convocation Monday morning, outlining the institution's direction as it begins another school year.
Cruz Rivera centered changing federal policy and advances in technology as challenges for NAU, discussing current issues as well as ways the university plans to respond. Among the items were NAU's approach to advocacy, the decision to pause its plans for a college of medicine and that the university is not planning to cut positions or increase workloads.
