100 years ago

1925: Last Friday night, Buster Prochnow missed his Chevrolet touring car. Someone saw it heading west. Local officers phoned to head off the car at Williams and officers gave chase, Buster accompanying them. Arriving in the early hours at the White garage, at Williams, the officers spied the culprit. “Who’s car you driving,” Prochnow asked him. “Oh, I borrowed it from a friend in Flagstaff,” he replied. “How interesting,” murmured the officers as they took him in their car and headed back toward home. On Saturday morning, Dan McCluskey, who works for the Saginaw & Manistee Lumber company, pled guilty before Justice of the Peace Tom Pulliam. “I did not mean to steal the car,” said McCluskey. “I just borrowed it to go after some liquor.” Justice Pulliam gave the young man a
