COLUMBUS, Ohio — Michael Hancock Hinson and Maggie Colevin can’t remember a time when they weren’t together.

“We met in preschool,” Hinson said with a laugh. “But we’d be lying if we said we were best friends at first sight. Maggie didn’t like me because I had a boy’s name. She warmed up to me quickly and we’ve been friends ever since.”

That bond only grew stronger over the years, through first dances, first dates, college and even living together in their 20s.

“We have seen the good, the bad, the ugly,” Hinson said. “She’s seen me with blonde hair, braces, acne and we’ve been able to celebrate our successes and challenges.”

Now both 40, the lifelong friends have continued sharing life’s biggest milestones. Colevin said Hinson has always been there for her.
