Luis Alberto Lamata, Venezuelan filmmaker, television producer, and historian, died on August 24 at the age of 65, according to various figures connected to the country's film, intellectual, and cultural worlds.

Ernesto Villegas, Minister of Culture, announced the news on social media. He shared a post from Creadores del Mundo, detailing that Lisett Torres Olmos, Director of Strategic Projects at the Villa del Cine Foundation, was the one who announced Lamata's death.

Journalist and university professor Antonio Núñez Aldazoro dedicated a message to Lamata on his Instagram account. In it, he recalled a meeting held in March 2024 at the Central University of Venezuela, where they discussed at length the relationship between film and history, and the role of research in filmmaking.
