According to the Northwest Volunteers Fire Department crews were called out to a home on Redding Springs Lane around 3 a.m. On Sunday. Firefighters said seven people were inside the home at the time of the fire. Five people were hospitalized, including three young children.

When the firefighters arrived, they were told by family members that there were people still trapped inside of the home. Firefighters located the mother and daughter unresponsive inside of room on the second floor of the house. Firefighters said that they performed CPR and then transported them both to the hospital in critical condition.

Northwest Volunteer Fire Department Fire Chief, Wesley Cole, said that burglar bars for protection on the home, slowed down rescuers’ response.
