Eunice Adelman Clavner was born in Kansas City, Mo., on July 19, 1940, to Chaim and Regina Adelman, and passed on Aug. 22, 2025, after a long illness.
She had three sisters, and was the youngest of the family. Eunice earned a scholarship to Camp Ramah in Wisconsin for several years, and later instilled the “Camp Ramah gene” in her daughter. She graduated from South High School in Kansas City and earned a scholarship to the Joint Program with Columbia University and The Jewish Theological Seminary of America, both in New York City. From there she went to Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass., where she studied education.
Eunice moved to Cleveland Heights in 1970, where she started teaching for Cleveland Public Schools. She taught high school English, where she made her students understan
