York City Police Commissioner Michael Muldrow ordered detectives back into the office on Saturday after a hate-related incident in the city went viral on Facebook and prompted community outrage and concern.

“ANY incident where “Hate Fueled Violence” is alleged (in this community) will ALWAYS be a priority to myself, this Department, and York City Government as a whole," Muldrow wrote in a Facebook post .

The incident happened Friday, Aug. 22, when a group of LGBTQ+ people were verbally and physically assaulted because of their identities, according to posts from both a victim and a brewing company where the ordeal started.
