Developer Benny Marotta’s application to merge a portion of the Glencairn Hall property with his own nearby land has been granted by Niagara-on-the-Lake’s committee of adjustment.
As a result of a 4-1 decision during the committee’s Thursday meeting at town hall, members agreed to join a 0.56-acre parcel of land from 14795 Niagara River Pkwy., tied to Glencairn Hall which was destroyed by fire in April, to 14785 Niagara River Pkwy, Marotta’s abutting property.
While four committee of adjustment members had no questions about the application, Paul Johnston, who voted against the boundary adjustment, questioned it.
Johnston couldn’t understand why the owner of 14795 Niagara River Pkwy. would agree to sever a portion of his property and allow it to be joined to 14785 Niagara River Pkwy.
