The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is reportedly exploring the possibility of operating its own fleet of aircraft for deporting immigrants, according to two sources familiar with the discussions who spoke to NBC News . At present, the DHS depends on chartered operations.

The report states that this move would help the US government achieve its target of deporting 30,000 to 35,000 immigrants each month. To reach this target, the DHS might need to own 30 aircraft, double the number it currently charters. Ever since President Donald Trump’s inauguration, the Trump administration has stepped up its immigration policies to combat undocumented immigration.
