JACKSON, Mich. (WILX) - The city of Jackson brought American History to life this weekend with the 38th Annual Jackson Civil War Muster.

The event was also a time to commemorate the 250th birthday of the U.S. Army.

U.S. Marines were in attendance, and people could see historical vehicles, horses, and cannons on display.

Maurice Imhoff, the president of the Jackson Civil War Muster shared why learning about U.S. history and Michigan’s involvement is important.

“Michigan sent 90,000 boys to go fight in the Civil War,” said Imhoff. “15,000 of those boys, young boys from communities like Jackson, never made it back home. This is where we tell their stories and honor their service that ultimately ended the evil of slavery in America,” said Imhoff."
