COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A man is dead after leading deputies on a high-speed chase in Columbia County, authorities said.

According to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy initiated a traffic stop on a gold Toyota Camry on Jimmie Dyess Parkway at the on-ramp to Interstate-20 East Saturday night. Officials say the driver of the vehicle was wanted for simple assault by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
