The Detroit Lions finished out their preseason slate on Saturday and it couldn’t be more evident that veteran Kyle Allen has separated himself in the backup quarterback competition.
After getting the edge on third-year quarterback Hendon Hooker in the last two games, Allen only played one quarter in a loss against the Houston Texans and still proceeded to be one of the best players on the field the entire game.
Allen was responsible for Detroit’s lone scoring drive of the game, finding rookie wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa on a tremendous 33-yard touchdown throw .
For the game, Allen was 5-of-5 for 66 yards and the score, making him 26-of-30 for 310 yards, five touchdowns and no picks in the last three weeks.
Allen had a rough go of it in the Hall of Fame Game — as did the entire Lions
