Mutant zombie rabbits with horns could spread across the world, boffins have warned. The bunnies are infected with cottontail rabbit papilloma virus which hails from mosquito and tick bites. ‌

It leaves them with warty tentacle-like growths on their heads. ‌

Originally spotted in Colorado sightings of the rabbits have now been reported across the US. ‌

The virus spreads when rabbits breed as well as in bites from infected insects.

Experts fear it could lead to a hideous worldwide evolution of the normally cuddly creatures.
