The Ohio Turnpike was closed in both directions for more than an hour early Sunday following a fatal crash and fire involving a tractor-trailer and two vehicles, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.

State troopers from the patrol’s Swanton Post responded at 12:19 a.m. to the eastbound lanes near milepost 77 in Sandusky County’s Woodville Township.

Blade Campbell, 20, of Sandusky, was driving a Ford Mustang eastbound in the right lane when he hit the rear of an International tractor-trailer, operated by Roderick Rife, 69, of Sterling Heights, Mich., the patrol’s Lt. Erica J. Gockstetter said.
