(NEXSTAR) - Weather was the X factor in Friday's NASCAR Xfinity Series race in Daytona.
Just after the national anthem, there was lightning in the area, and fans were asked to leave the stands for safety, and the race was delayed.
When the green flag finally dropped at the Wawa 250, Connor Zilisch, who started on the pole, intentionally dropped to the back of the pack due to his odd injury at Watkins Glen.
After winning there, Zilisch fell off of his race car and broke his collarbone. Instead of risking an aggravation to the injury, the team called on Parker Kligerman to swap out at the start of the Wawa 250.
It turns out a fast driver swap was a key to the race, but it wasn't easy.
