BURTON TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WOIO) - A 68-year-old woman died in a house fire in Burton on Sunday.

According to a release from the Burton Volunteer Fire Department, firefighters responded to Erwin Drive just before 4 a.m.

A 69-year-old man had gotten out of the house and told dispatch the woman was still inside, according to the release.

The release said firefighters could not get to the victim because of the clutter in the house.

Firefighters were eventually able to extinguish the fire and get to the woman. They also rescued two dogs from the fire.

Both victims were taken to the hospital, where the 68-year-old woman died.

The man is in stable condition.

Damage from the fire is estimated at around $160,000.

The fire is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
