Tigers starter Jack Flaherty surrendered eight runs on 10 hits in five innings of work, including six runs in the third inning as the Royals took a 6-1 lead.

The Tigers (78-54) answered with back-to-back three-run innings in the fourth and fifth to take a 7-6 lead, before the Royals hung three runs of their own in the sixth.
