NORMAN — When Todd Bates arrived in Norman as OU’s defensive tackles coach ahead of the 2022 season, he knew something had to change quickly with the group.

“I believe I was the heaviest in the room,” Bates said. “That ain’t the case anymore. We’ve got Jayden Jackson and Dam(onic) Williams both well over 320, 325, 330ish even. Guys that carry it well.”
