PANTEGO, N.C. (WITN) - Multiple law enforcement agencies are dealing with a barricaded man in the Pantego area who they say fired a gunshot at officers.

Beaufort County Sheriff Scott Hammonds says that deputies with multiple agencies from Greenville, Hyde County, and Washington County are dealing with a man with warrants for arrest who is barricaded inside his home in the 4000 Block of Railroad Bed Road.

Hammonds says it started around 12:20 p.m. when officers from Hyde County requested mutual aid from Beaufort County. The sheriff says that the man fired a single rifle shot in the direction of officers. Hammonds says that the Greenville police’s Special Response Team was called in to assist. We’re told the man is currently out on bond for a resist/delay charge out of Rockingham County.
