New Mexico's largest electric utility has added seven more high schools to those offering classes that could eventually lead to careers in the electric trades.
"We are [proud to see the PNM Power Pros continue to grow," said Dan Terry, CEO of the Public Service Company of New Mexico. "Being able to invest in our high school students and give them an opportunity to learn more about the trade, and possibly pursue a career in it, is extremely important. The more youth we can keep in our state, the better our future will be.
The semester-long classes are being funded by a $1 million contribution from PNM in partnership with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. When the course is completed, students will receive OSHA certification and high school elective credits.
