Fernand has maximum sustained winds of 45mph which keeps it slightly above the threshold to be a tropical as tropical storm wind speed strengths are categorized from 39mph winds to 73mph winds.

Fernand is forecast to stay a tropical storm through its lifetime with wind speeds peaking near 60 mph as we head into Monday.

No threat to land, Fernand is forecast to stay over the open Atlantic.
